May Notables

May was a big month at Rankin. So much to celebrate!

Track & Field Regionals:

-Graduating Student Beth Cholock set new regional records in the Senior Girls 400m & 800m! Congratulations Beth!

-____ students heading off to Provincial Competition.

Puffin Awards for Literary Excellence:

– 3 of our Grade 11 students won the Puffin Awards for Literary Excellence with their original writing.

– 1st place: Abbie Bickham “Quality Protection”

– 2nd place: Michaela MacMillan “Fishing on the Moon”

– 3rd place: Stephanie MacDonald “The Coffee Encounter”

NSSSA:
-10 students attended Provincial NSSSA Conference at StFX

– Maggie MacNeil was elected Provincial President for the NSSSA Organization.

Show Me Your Math:

– Our Grade 4-5-6 students participated in ‘Show Me Your Math’ fair at Membertou and had officials from StFX here to explore their work.

NSSAF Celebration of Sport:

– Zac MacKinnon & Laura Wukitsch were awarded NSSAF Sports awards at a Provincial Celebration.

– Meghan Lynch-Briand, our Running club coach, was also recognized for her work with our elementary students.

Public Speaking:

– Max Moeller; Morgan MacInnis; Grace MacNeil and Taylor Basque represented Rankin at the CBVRSB Public Speaking Event

Student Art Show:

– A number of pieces by our students were shown at the Regional Art Show at the Mayflower Mall.

– Shayde Stevens and Morgan MacInnis had showcases at the Cape Breton Centre for Craft and Design.

Gaelic Day:
– Gaelic Awareness Month was celebrated by our Gaelic Students during a day of language classes, songs and an afternoon Milling Frolic with guests from our community.

Running Club:
– Has been busy preparing for the Fiddler’s Run this coming weekend!
