Welcome Back from CBVRSB
We wish to welcome our students, staff, and parents to the 2014/15 school year. We hope you have had an opportunity to relax and enjoy a beautiful Cape Breton summer. As we begin another school year, we wish our graduates of 2014 well in their future career plans and welcome students and parents new to our Board.
Our focus will continue to be on student achievement, particularly in the areas of literacy and numeracy. To this end, many of our teaching staff have been involved with our Programs department in professional development over the summer months. Our technology staff has worked diligently over July and August to refresh computers in schools and continue improvements in our existing wireless infrastructure.
Our Human Resources department has worked throughout the summer to ensure that administrative and teaching vacancies are filled. While both our Finance and HR departments have been preparing for the provincial business integration initiative, our Operations staff has managed a number of construction projects. As well, routine painting and repairs have been completed, our Transportation department has ensured our buses are ready, and now our cleaning staff is busy ensuring schools will be bright and shiny for opening day.
We wish to take this opportunity to thank all our staff for their commitment to create safe and comfortable environments to support student learning.
We are looking forward to another exciting school year for students and to working with all students, parents, and staff as partners in our Board’s goals:
- To prepare students for the 21stcentury by providing highly skilled staff and integrated curriculum.
- To provide safe, healthy and equitable learning and working environments for all staff and students.
- For all departments (Finance, Human Resources, Operations and Programs) to work collaboratively to maximize student access to programs and services.
Sincerely,
Lorne Green Beth MacIsaac
Board Chair Superintendent of Schools
