INTERGENERATIONAL AWARD
The Department of Seniors is pleased to announce that nominations for our Intergenerational Awards program 2014 are now open.
The Intergenerational Awards are designed to increase awareness of the value of relationships between older and younger generations. Intergenerational activities enhance the lives of youth and seniors in many ways: companionship, role-modeling, learning computers or heritage skills, and exploring a person’s place within society and community, to name a few. By supporting intergenerational activities we can foster better understanding and caring between people that have been influenced by vastly different life experiences.
We believe it is also important to recognize great work and community contributions. The Intergenerational Awards includes formal recognition as well as a cash donation to a charity of the winner’s choice. The Awards may be won by individual seniors, young people or by community groups who through their work bring people across generations together for the betterment of their communities.
The deadline for nominations is April 7th, 2014. Nomination forms are available to download from the Nova Scotia Department of Seniors website at http://novascotia.ca/seniors/NS_Intergenerational_Awards.asp . Please share this information and consider nominating someone yourself.
